Remembrance March
Join us on On April 17th, 2021 to honor the military men and women, past and present, who give their all in service of our community and nation! Beginning and ending on the WNMU campus, participants can walk or run their choice of distances and routes, either for themselves or in memory of a loved one who served.
Participant Categories:
- Military: Must be a current member of active duty, Reserve, National Guard or retired military member. Participant may wear military uniform but must provide a military service identification card at time of check in.
- Military Heavy: Must be a current member of active duty, Reserve, National Guard or retired military member. Participant may carry a 35lb bag throughout the march. Weighted vests will not be allowed.
- Civilian: Any member of the public or military may participate in this category.
- Team: Teams of five may enter and participate as members of any category.
Safety:
- Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
- Water and health stations provided by local EMTs and WNMU School of Nursing will be located along the track to ensure the health and safety of all participants.

Moved By War
When U.S. Marine Roman Baca returned from serving in the Iraq War, he started a dance company. Now he helps other veterans heal from trauma through dance.
Film screening followed by 60-minute movement workshop led by Roman Baca, U.S. Marine veteran and founder of Exit 12 Dance Company.

The Western New Mexico University Office of Veterans Affairs is hosting its annual Remembrance March. This event features a 3-mile march around the Fort Bayard Historical Landmark and the Veterans National Cemetery, concluding at the Bataan Memorial Park.
Registration is $25 per participant and check-in starts at 8 a.m. The march begins at 10 a.m.
